The acid market continues to face strongpressure as sulphur burners remain running at highcapacity producing larger quantities of acid for the domesticmarket. Some report acid prices at around RMB 530-550/mt, but could drop further next week. A rising sulphurprice is placing further pressure on acid producers who, unlike fertilizer producers, cannot absorb the higher costs, asacid prices are driven down further. Sulphuric acid producersare consequently drawing down existing sulphur stocks toavoid rising domestic sulphur prices.
