DAP prices edge up

No new DAP import business has been reported. Firm prices have yet to be announced by GCT or OCP for February shipments of Tunisian and Moroccan DAP, respectively, but equally, buyers are wary of the sharp increase in fob price indications for North African product following the $390 fob accepted two week’s ago for 15-20,000 t Tunisian DAP for January loading. The North African producers are reported to have been bid as high as $460 fob by traders for February DAP. Turkish DAP has this week been bought at $455 fob for March shipment following business last week at $430-450 fob or above for February/first half March shipment, although it is not clear whether the tonnage will find its way into the Italian market. Whilst supply in the DAP market is tight, Italian buyers are equally not prepared to commit to additional product before seeing farmer off-take commence, concerned about whether they can pass on to end users the higher prices being indicated.
