Status of and Research Opportunities at Anka Synchrotron Radiation Facility under Construction

ANKA is a 2.5 GeV synchrotron radiation facility under construction at Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe. It is scheduled to become operational in fall 2000. From that date the facility will be owned and run by a private company, ANKA GmbH. This paper describes the layout and status of the facility as well as its research potential with special emphasis on the infrared beam line. It concludes with an outline of ways to have access to the facility.
