摘要

On Jan. 15, as reports started trickling in that a U.S. Airways plane had gone down in the Hudson River off Manhattan, the first question that entered many minds was "How many souls were lost?" But this plane crash did not have a tragic ending; all 155 aboard survived. Many attribute their survival to the fact that the jet's pilot, Chesley B. Sullenburger III, was a student and teacher of a performance-enhancing process called crew resource management (CRM)—the practice of using all resources to reduce the adverse affects of error. Today, the use of CRM is critical in reducing fireground injuries and deaths.
