With more than 1.2 million residents covering 384.7 square miles, Dallas is the ninth largest city in the US. The city is in the heart of the fourth largest metroplex in the US, and one of the fastest growing areas in the nation. Municipal activities involve some 13000 employees and a vast number of operations ranging from Love Field Airport and the Dallas Convention Center, to the McCommas Bluff Landfill and two waste water treatment plants. In charge is a City Manager, with 14 council members serving two-year terms and a Mayor serving a four-year term.
