ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 17, Cards and personal identification, has a long history in cards, but as you will see below, its work has not stood still. It continues to work on the most up-to-date technologies and is seeking all the time to anticipate market needs or to respond to market requirements. Although the size of the card is not growing, its applications are-and so is the community of experts working on them.
