Glyphosate is one of the most valuable herbicides in agriculture but the growing resistance of weeds means farmers need to work smarter to ensure high levels of glyphosate resistance do not occur. Awareness of the resistance risks and smart managementcan keep glyphosate resistance rare, according to the national Glyphosate Sustainability Working Group. Glyphosate is one of the most valuable herbicides in Australian agriculture. Since the first case during 1996, 54 glyphosate-resistant weed populations have been confirmed in Australia. The Glyphosate Sustainability Working Group (GSWG) was formed by the Grains Research and Development Corporation during 2004 to promote a national, coordinated approach to glyphosate resistance research and to increase the Sustainability of glyphosate usage in agriculture.
