Growers are being urged to monitor their cereal crops following the discovery of high levels of ergot in areas heavily infested with black-grass.The fungus, which affects grain quality, has been found on Agrii's research site in Stow Longa, Cambridgeshire, and across other areas of the country.Agrii business development manager David Neale says black-grass has offered a perfect host for the disease, generating ergot early and rapidly and stimulating major infection in the surrounding wheat crop.
