Bob Goltz has been successful at selling a little-known brand from his independent repair shop. And now, it's crossroads time. The basic idea of this article: To show readers that this business has a source of retailing talent that is too often overlooked -- people with a strong background in service. And so we start with some background: The year was 1980. Bob Goltz completed the diesel technician training program at the vocational/technical school at Milford, NE. Immediately, he went to work for the Case IH dealership at Shenandoah, IA. Four years later, he was service manager for the dealership, a position he held for six years.
