CRH expects 2006 profits to be up 23 percent

International building materials group CRH pkc said it expects full-year pretax profit to rise over 23 percent to about Euro300m (388m US dollars) with a record full-year acquisition spend of about Euro2.1bn(2.7bn US dollars). Separately, the company said an additional 31 acquisition initiatives totaling Euro400m pushed its total net acquisition spend in the second half to about Euro1.3bn. During the year, CRH's Europe Materials division entered into one joint venture and made four acquisitions worth Euro47m, while its Europe Products arm made seven buys worth Euro121m. Europe Distribution made three purchases totaling Euro18m, Americas Materials made seven buys worth Euro69m, while the Americas products and distribution divisions made nine acquisitions worth a total of Euro 148m.
