Metallurgical Reminders: Working the Metal - Part V: Cold Rolling of Sheet & Strip

This is the first of three columns planned for rolling. In addition to this issue's column on cold rolling of sheet and strip, I plan to devote a column to hot rolling of sheet and strip and a column to bar and rod rolling. For the record, the rolling of sheet and strip is usually called flat rolling, with strip implying coiled stock of indefinite length and sheet implying strip that has been cut to length.
