The insects may be the star attractions at the newly opened Butterfly Conservatory, but the exotic plants make a fine supporting cast. A new 15 dollar-million greenhouse complex in the Niagara Region is home to 100 different species of tropical plants, many of them rare and unique within growing operations in Canada. Oh, and it's also home to 2,000 exotic butterflies. The Niagara Parks Butterfly Conservatory opened late last fall, and has already attracted 95,000 visitors. It's projected to draw 500,000 people a year.
