摘要

Pilots safety behavior is regarded a critical determinant to airlines overall safety performance. Along with the unequivocal statement that leadership styles affect employees' organizational behavior in various way, this study aims to identify how fleet managers' authoritarian leadership influence Taiwanese commercial airlines pilots' safety behavior. Meanwhile, pilots' self-efficacy has been adopted in the conceptual model to observe its moderating effects. The results reveal that fleet managers' authoritarian leadership shows significantly negative effects on both pilots' in-role and extra-role safety behaviors. In addition, pilots with high self-efficacy tend to be less affected by the negative effects of authoritarian leadership. The implications of the results for both practitioners and future research are discussed.
