Animal breeding is an imprecise science. With so much left to the unique and seemingly random combination of genes that are passed on from the sire and dam, breeding is often considered more of an art. Being optimists, we often assume that only the very best genes from both the sire and dam will be passed on, while the poor genes will conveniently fall by the wayside. Therefore, we use bulls that will improve perceived weaknesses in a cow while expecting the cow to make up for the bull's shortcomings. Rarely do the resulting offspring display all the best assets of their parents and few of their faults. Trotacre Loral Tiller-ET may be an exception to this rule. As he adds second-crop daughters it is becoming clear that he stamps out daughters that combine the very best qualities of his sire and dam.
