THE Prickett Brothers' Outing--Loud Mine 2008

My brother Chazz and I showed up Thursday night, the 8th of May, for the Loud Mine Common dig. The place is rustic and just getting to the right spot was an adventure. The map supplied for us was good but we were coming from one of those you can't get there from here directions, so of course we got lost and had to ask directions. We found that the locals don't know anything about where they live. Some of them have never been more than 30 miles from home, but did go to Atlanta once 65 years ago. We made it just as the sun was going down and met some of the great LDMA and GPAA folks that help put on the fun. Under no uncertain terms these people are a blast. The stories we heard just showed us the "first liar doesn't have a chance." Of course it is all in good fun. The walls in the LDMA office indicate a rich history, and you can just feel it walking around and talking to all the old timers. Everybody was sharing techniques and showing ways to improve the returns. It is obvious there are a lot of longtime friendships being brought together again, and new friends to make for those of us coming to our first team dig. This is really tailored to the new miner and the ones that just enjoy other people and like to share their knowledge.
