Novozymes Patent Ruled Invalid; Judge Rules in Favor of Danisco

Novozymes’ patent covering certain alpha-amylase enzymes for use in the biofuel and starch industries has been ruled invalid. This decision reverses a jury’s verdict from October 26, 2011, in which Danisco was found liable for willfully infringing this patent. From that previous decision, Novozymes was awarded damages of US$18.3 million.
