Suntech, Bangchak Petroleum Launch S.E. Asia's Largest Solar-PV Power Plant

China-based Suntech Power announced September 26 the start-up in Thailand of what's described as Southeast Asia's largest solar-photovoltaic (PV) power plant. The 44-megawatt PV-power plant is owned by Bangchak Petroleum, according to Suntech. Solartron performed the engineering, procurement and construction for the plant, according to Suntech. Bangchak Petroleum senior executive vice president Bundit Sapianchai, said the PV plant "represents an important step in [our] aim to promote a green environment and sustainable business in Thailand. We chose Suntech because of their excellent track record around the world and their high-efficiency panels which are specifically suited to Thailand's hot and humid climate."
