Background: The use of antipsychotics is associated with metabolic side effects, which puts the patient at risk for cardiovascular morbidity. The high interindividual variability in antipsychotic-induced metabolic abnormalities suggests that genetic make-up is a possible determinant.Objective: This cross-sectional study investigates whether genotypes of the HTR2C receptor are associated with the metabolic syndrome in patients using antipsychotics.
