The Craft Council of The Cleveland Institute of Art

The Cleveland Institute of Art's Craft Council has been established as a new community forum to advance the world of craft. Their opening event, held April 30, 2003, featured Mark Richard Leach, Director of the highly-regarded Mint Museum of Craft and Design in Charlotte, North Carolina. Mr. Leach's topic was "The Evolution of Crafts from the 1930's to the Present". The series of programs continues in September with Barbara Deisroth, Sr. Vice President and Director of the 20th Century Decorative Works of the Art Department of Sotheby's, NYC. For November, David MacFadden, Chief Curator at the Museum of Arts and Design, formerly the American Craft Museum, NYC, is scheduled.
