In this case, necessity definitely was the mother of invention! When Dr. Linda Kessinger requested that we come up with a large work of art that could also serve as a fundraiser for the new Harts, W. Va. Clinic, We were more than happy to help out. Not only is this a vital service to a very low income community, but the clinic had been literally a lifesaver for us. The challenge for us was the scale. We are primarily jewelers, although from time to time, we have done larger liturgical pieces. Our normal media is brass and bronze and other non-precious metals. Roberta is very good at acid etching but she is used to working on a small scale. Something that large could be very beautiful but the work and time would be overwhelming.
