Considerable variations in the air temperature and wind direction and velocity associated with variations in the interplanetary magnetic field (IMF) are revealed based on an analysis of the meteorological and aerological data obtained at Vostok, South Pole, Kupol S, Leningradskaya, Mirny, and Russkaya stations in the period from 1970 through 1999. Warming and cooling were observed on the ground level at a decrease (B-z < -3) and increase (B-z > 2.5) in the IMF vertical component, respectively. The changes in the wind direction from 260 degrees to 190 degrees at Vostok continental station, from 160 degrees to 290 degrees at Leningradskaya coastal station, and from 130 degrees to 200 degrees at Russkaya coastal station were observed one-two days after an increase in the amplitude of the B, negative values. The changes in the wind velocity profile were revealed during considerable variations in the IMF B-z component at Vostok station. Thus, the wind velocity on the key day (19 m/s) became higher than on the previous day (12 m/s) at a height of 7-10 km for negative B-z values. At the same time, for positive B, values, the wind velocity decreases a day after the key day. It has been indicated that wind direction changes depending on the B-z component not only in the years close to a solar activity maximum (1981, 1982) but also in the years of activity minimum (1985-1987), when the number of solar flares and Forbush decreases of galactic cosmic rays is insignificant.
