PBF Closes Embattled Torrance Refinery Acquisition

Independent refiner PBF Energy officially closed its acquisition of the Torrance, California refinery on Friday after repeated problems at the plant delayed its takeover. PBF announced its purchase of the 155,000 barrel per day Torrance refinery from integrated major Exxon Mobil in October of last year (OD Oct.1'2015). But a series of fires and other problems involving gasoline-making units kept the independent from closing the deal.
