Driving With Wood: US Research Team Introduces New Biofuel

New biofuel from trees has beendeveloped at the University of Georgia. The still unnamed fuel can be blended with biodiesel or petroleum diesel and used as a environmental friendly fuel. Trees are marvellous plants: They grow to enormous heights, outlive most humans and produce oxygen, making the air breathable. Without them, humanity would have missed most of their most important innovations, like the wheel, which was cut out of a tree, or the ship, which was made out of wood since the first humans went to sea. That the tree still has some secrets, even today, proved a team of the University of Georgia: Researchers from the University developed a new biofuel derived from wood chips. Unlike previous fuels derived from wood, the new and still unnamed fuel can be blended with biodiesel and petroleum diesel to power conventional engines.
