Closed cycle nuclear plant rated at 165 MW and 41% efficiency

Zero emissions plant, powered by a pebble bed modular reactor and closed cycle gas turbine, is priced at around USD1700 per kW - can be up and running within 24-30 months from start of construction. Eskom in South Africa is getting ready to start building a 165 MW closed cycle gas turbine demonstration plant in 2008, with a 2012 start-up date, that will be powered by a high temperature helium-cooled pebble bed modular reactor.
