When the gas-to-crude ratio falls,ethane becomes more attractive as a feedstock.Simply put,there is more of it available,since processors can afford the shrinkage and the fuel.As you can see from the chart below provided by Peter Fasullo,one of the managing partners at EnVantage (832-618-1555),periods of a high gas-to- crude ratio (red line) correlate with troughs in the utilization of ethane as a feedstock (blue line).In contrast,usage of propane (green line) seems fairly steady regardless.
