Granite Wash: Thicket of Opportunity

Oil and gas are far from exhausted in the Texas Panhandle, and one reservoir that is in the midst of a reconstruction is the Pennsylvanian Granite Wash. Operators are applying horizontal and vertical wells to produce reserves from this longtime target. Economic rates are achieved by multistage, slickwater fracture treatments and close attention to costs. It's a challenging venture, given the softness in natural gas prices and the vagaries of Midcontinent differentials, but it's one that several companies find quite appealing.
