Rosneft launches lawsuit to gain Sakhalin Energy pipeline access

Rosneft has taken Sakhalin Energy, led by Gazprom and Shell, to court in a bid to secure access to the Sakhalin-2 gas pipeline, as the two parties play hardball over gas reserves in Russia’s recently liberalised LNG export market. Sakhalin Energy, in which Gazprom holds a 50% plus one share interest, operates Russia’s only operating LNG plant - the 9.6 mtpa, two train Sakhalin-2 - and is eying the possibility of expanding the plant with a third train.
