摘要

Liberia’s state-owned oil company NOCAL has sought to calm fears that the government is “auctioning off” the country’s oil and gas assets, after local media reports suggesting that Liberia’s efforts to find international bidders for four oil and gas licences amounted to asset stripping triggered opposition in the West African nation. Last week NOCAL launched the licensing round for the four deep-water blocks 15 miles offshore Liberia, LB-6, LB-7, LB-16 and LB-17, after previous arrangements for the blocks fell through.
