On an inequality associated with variational inequalities in Banach spaces and its consequences

An inequality, closely associated with variational and variational-type inequalities, in reflexive real Banach spaces, is established and the traditional variational and variational-type inequalities, studied by many authors, are obtained as particular cases of the newly obtained inequality.
