The chemical potential of magnons in quasi-equilibrium

There have been many questions raised as to the existence of a non-zero chemical potential in a system of quasiparticles, such as magnons, which can be created and destroyed in an open system. In this paper, we spell out the reasons that there is, in fact, a non-zero chemical potential for magnons, and that it can be determined from magnetic aftereffect experiments. (c) 2007 Elsevier B.V.
