In 1958, the Benelux countries (Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands) established an economic union that started to allow free movement of workers, capital, goods and services across the region. The industrial gas industry has been able to take advantage of this, building considerable pipeline infrastructure which transverses both Belgium and the Netherlands.
