Plans to build an ammonia plant, as a joint venture between chemicals firm BASF and Yara, at a site in Freeport, Texas have been announced. A statement indicated that BASF and Yara have made good progress with their plan to jointly build a world-scale ammonia plant on the US Gulf Coast. The plant would be located at the existing BASF site in Freeport, Texas, have an annual capacity of 750,000 metric tonnes, and be based on a hydrogen-synthesis process.
