The narrow band imaging (NBI) technology uses a narrow Sight source to enhance visualization of the mucosal surface microvesseis. Two NBI systems are available: the red-green-blue sequential iliumination system, as described by Hirata et al1 of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, in which narrow spectra of the red, green, and blue light are centered on 415 nm, 445 nm, and 500 nm, respectively; and NBI of the color chip system, used in the United States, in which a single filter with a 2-band pass characteristic is used to generate central wavelengths at 415 nm (blue) and 540 nm (green and red).
