An old cottage garden favourite, hollyhocks bring back childhood memories. The flower spikes grow to about 2-2,5m (6-8ft), and come in a range of colours. Sow now where you want them to flower. Although they will come back the following year, it's better to start out with new ones each year to avoid disease.
