The Illinois Senate on October 27 failed to approve proposed legislation (SB 678) that would enable construction of the proposed US$3.5-billion, 602-megawatt "Taylorville Energy Center" (TEC) hybrid integrated gasification combined cycle (IGCC)/synthetic natural gas (SNG) plant. Thirty-one senators voted against the bill, while 25 voted in favor and two abstained.
