The global economic picture in 2015 turned out to be less rosy than initially thought likely, driven by weaker-than-expected growth in bothadvanced and emerging market economies. The IMF revised down its global real GDP growth forecast for 2015 to 3.1% in October 2015,from 3.3% in July and 3.5% at the beginning of the year. Although the IMF’s short-term growth projections for China have been keptunchanged throughout 2015, slower Chinese demand has proved to have a much larger-than-anticipated impact on global commoditymarkets and prices. While weak commodity prices have led to forecast revisions of faster economic slowdown or even contractions inexporting countries, 2015 growth projections for commodity importers such as the Eurozone and India have been raised compared to thosemade at the beginning of the year. Below, we review the performance of the economy and key end use sectors in 2015 in major countries.
