Electrical Safety Testing of Explosive Detonators

The Explosive Device Assessment team have developed a suite of electrical safety tests to evaluate the serviceability and safety characteristics of current and future detonator designs. Three potential threats were identified as areas of concern when handling explosive devices throughout its lifecycle. Test requirements and specifications where developed to enable procurement of new test systems. An extensive commissioning project was then undertaken to validate and verify the equipment specifications against performance and safety requirements to enable its use in the explosive facility.
