The new system of Nursing and Midwifery Council revalidation comes into effect in April 2016, from which time all nurses and midwives will be required to demonstrate their ability to practise safely and effectively. This article describes how one emergency department has incorporated evidence collection for revalidation into its regular continuing professional development opportunities, and outlines the benefits of this for individual nurses, employers and patients.
