Research Objective To analyze the effect of intravitreal triam-cinolone acetonide with focal/grid photo-coagulation on the progression of diabetic retinopathy. Study Design Randomized clinical trial. Location Multiple center in the United States. Funding Source National Eye Institute and the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, National Institutes of Health, United States Department of Health and Human Services: Allergan Inc. Relevant Methodology The participants with diabetic macular edema were randomly assigned to receive laser therapy or intravitreal triamcinolone acetonide (1 or 4mg). Fundus photographs were obtained at the baseline and one, two, and three years.
