AkzoNobel sells North American decorative paint business to PPG for$1.05bn

US AkzoNobel is divesting its North American decorative paints business to PPG for $1.05 billion to focus on Europe and in high growth regions where it has a strong presence. The North American business, which includes the Glidden, Liquid Nails and Canadian Sico brands, had revenues of $1.5 billion in 2011 - 7% of Akzo's total revenue - with eight manufacturing sites and around 5,000 employees in the US, Canada and Puerto Rico.
