Could Europe follow Japan's lead in switching the bulk of its injection moulding production to all-electric machines? Fanuc's CEO Yoshiharu Inaba thinks so. He believes that Europe could soon do what Japan did 10 years ago-when 90% of injection moulding machines below 300 tonnes converted to all-electric drives.Inaba says;"We saw the same things then in Japan as we have now seen in Europe.All the manufacturers of hydraulic machines were criticising all-electrics for high ball screw wear,abrasion and even software problems.The switch to all-electric took three to four years."
