No signs of upturn in PVC demand

After three years of steady demand growth, total PVC consumption fell by around 1.7% in 2002. According to Glyn Johnson, senior consultant at Nexant Chem Systems, total PVC consumption in Western Europe fell from 5,700 k/tonnes in 2001 to 5,600 k/tonnes in 2002. He attributes this to the general slowdown in economic activity in Europe, although it still represents an increase over 2000.
