UK: The US imposition of tariffs on Chinese tire imports since last November is driving strategic changes among many manufacturers in China - feedback from suppliers to the sector suggests. The duties - typically of around 12 percent - are already having an adverse effect on the Chinese tire market, according to Jacob Peled, executive chairman of Pelmar Engineering. Reduced exports to the industry's number one market is causing a surplus of tires in China, he reports.
