Truck tire shipments Final tariffs on Chinese imports will impact 2017

Truck tire imports were down close to 9% in 2016 vs. 2015. The reason? Imports from China were down 25%; from 9.4 million in 2015 to 7 million! The threat of tariffs hung over all truck tire manufacturers exporting from China to the U.S. last year; that threat is now a reality, with final tariffs ranging from nearly 50% (Double Coin Holdings Ltd.) to nearly 75%. If the trend from the second half of 2016 is any indication, truck tire imports from China will drop even further this year.
