Columbian buy gives Birla title of world's biggest carbon black firm

Mumbai - Aditya Birla Group is to buy US carbon black manufacturer Columbian Chemicals Co., the Indian company announced at a 31 Jan press conference.The deal will bring the combined Birla-Columbian capacity to around 2000 kt per year, marginally ahead of Cabot's 1900 kt.
