Carlyle,Meggitt to buy Dunlop Standard

UK equity fund manager Doughty Hanson & Co.has agreed to sell Dunlop Standard Aerospace Group to a consortium of Meggitt pic of the UK and global private equity firm Carlyle Group for a total of us1450 million (euro1170 million).Dunlop Standard Aerospace includes Shepshed,UK-based Dunlop Aerospace Precision Rubber,a major maker of elastomeric seals for airframes and engines.Doughty Hanson,one of the largest independent private equity firms in Europe,acquired the business from BTR pic in Oct 1998 for us855 million.Under Doughty Hanson's ownership,sales grew to us744 million in 2003 from us482 million in 1998.
