Sir, the recent report on an emergency department short-stay ward for the management of dengue is interesting [1]. Nasarudin et al. [1] concluded that 'emergency department short-stay ward limits the number and burden of dengue patients requiring formal IP admissions while acting as a "safety net" for inappropriate discharges and unnecessary admissions'. Indeed, the emergency ward for the management of dengue patients can be helpful in decreasing the workload of the hospital. In an endemic area, some dengue cases can also be managed in the outpatient clinic. Nevertheless, the important point is the primary diagnosis of the severity of the disease and the follow-up plan of the patient [2]. For any settings, it is a high risk if those basic medical requirements are not well done.
