An unusual cause of septic arthritis in a 16-year-old girl.

Septic arthritis is an acute inflammatory condition usually resulting from bacterial infection with Staphylococci or Streptococci. We describe a case of septic arthritis in a 16-year-old girl caused by a more unusual bacterium, Fusobacterium necrophorum and one which was the presenting features of an underlying rare condition called Lemierre's syndrome.
