Benefits of integrated colour solutions

The idea of tinting is to produce the colours, especially for decorative paints, in retail stores by mixing base paints and colorants using dispensers and mixers/ shakers. In addition, supportive colour management software and colour cards are needed to guarantee a smooth colour selection process. This colour production method is already the dominant business model in many European countries, as well as in North America and Australia (see Figure 1). Moreover, the demand for tinting solutions is increasing strongly in South America and Asia - in Brazil and China, for instance. In this figure, "10" means that only tinting systems are used and "o" that tinting is not used at all. In China, Russia and many other countries, most of the colours are still made using pigment dispersions (in-batch tinting) and dry pigments (direct milling).
