Mettler Toledo GmbH is launching new instruments for particle characterisation, the "FBRM G400" and "G600". Improved digital signal processing provides more accurate chord distribution and better agreement between results from inline and offline microscopy. The devices also perform automatic correction for particles that are stuck to the optical probe. Interchangeable probes of different lengths mean that the same basic instrument can be used to take measurements on reactors having a volume of anywhere between less than 50 ml and over 20,000 litres.
